The context

U.S. Bank operated two internal engineering platforms: a developer portal and an enterprise API registry supporting API governance, standards, and lifecycle management. Both platforms were critical to the bank’s engineering ecosystem and supported large distributed development teams.

The challenge

Engineering practices had not kept pace with the growth of the platforms. The outcome

Deployments became automated and predictable, reducing release times by up to 83%. More than 20,000 accumulated code quality issues were resolved while feature development continued uninterrupted. A structured code review process and automated quality controls shifted defect detection earlier in the development lifecycle, reducing avoidable debugging effort and improving engineering efficiency.
